I was going to write about choices this month. However, given that the last Tuesday of December is also the final day of 2024, I chose to embrace the space for reflection instead.
This time last year, I decided to transition Future You from LinkedIn to Substack. As luck would have it, London Writers’ Salon was running a Start Your Substack sprint, supporting me to launch by the end of February.
As with most things in life, progress is not linear, and a new platform meant going from 250+ subscribers to zero.
But Future You has never been about the numbers for me. While my aim is always to add value via my work, writing is my way of making sense of the world and how to move through life with meaning. All that to say, my words are as much for me as they are for anyone else!
That said, I am grateful that I’m no longer talking (writing) to myself… which is all thanks to you—each and every one of you who read, follow, subscribe, like, comment on, or share my work. Your support and feedback mean more than you know.
In the spirit of reflection (and Spotify Wrapped), what better way to wrap up the year than recapping all the themes we have covered? From curiosity and connection to success and surrender, here’s some holiday reading to help kick off the New Year.
2024 Discography*
Accepting that there is no such thing as perfect, only progress.
Before you wake up one day and realise you’re living someone else’s definition of it.
Get out of your own way and call on a force much more powerful than control.
Stop planning for some distant day that may never come and do what you can in the here and now.
Failure, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
The two types of fear and four strategies to tackle it
None of us get to opt out of fear. The best we can do is to learn to live with it. Acknowledge it, question it, but most importantly not let it limit us.
“All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.”
MISSING: Intuition. LAST SEEN: Childhood
Intuition is a muscle. And like any muscle, the more you train it, the stronger it becomes.
From resistance to realignment
It’s easy to mistake effort for progress however, sometimes, the biggest breakthrough comes not from ploughing ahead, but from pausing to step back and realign.
Many of us go through life at a surface level, but it is vulnerability that builds trust and cultivates connection.

And that’s a wrap!
For my Future You fans who have already completed this year, why not check out the 2023 Discography?
I’m starting the year by taking my own advice - embracing this time for reflection to start the year in a considered, intentional way. Including thinking about how Future You will continue to grow and evolve in 2025. As an integral part of this journey, I’d love to hear any thoughts, feedback or requests you have for Future You.
Wishing you a positive start to the New Year - here’s to you and I, but better.
